Aunt Concha and Aunt Mariquilla were enterprising women of the time, strong women who bravely founded a business that, at the time, was not suitable for single women. Later, during the 1960s, the European tourism boom hit our islands. Valle Gran Rey now had roads that facilitated access, and Germans, especially, saw the town as an enchanting valley in which to spend their vacations and even settle.

By then, Aunt Concha, who was in poor health, was no longer with us, but Aunt Mariquilla became a charismatic figure for this type of tourism, and our business changed its name to Pensión Concha.
We had a guesthouse with shared rooms, a shared bathroom and kitchen, and a multicultural terrace where we spent pleasant evenings.
Aunt Mariquilla and her peculiarities were part of the charm of our
